Kuwait's Labor Authority: Stricter Checks in Shuwaikh Industrial Area (2026)

Kuwait's Shuwaikh Industrial Area Undergoes Rigorous Labor and Safety Inspections

The Public Authority for Manpower in Kuwait has embarked on an extensive inspection campaign in the Shuwaikh Industrial Area, led by Director General Engineer Rabab Al-Osaimi. This initiative is a part of a broader strategy to regulate the work environment and safeguard the interests of all stakeholders involved in the production process.

In a statement, the Authority emphasized that this campaign is a continuation of its ongoing efforts to regulate the labor market and ensure strict adherence to labor laws and regulations. A team of 37 inspectors conducted 123 visits, encompassing labor inspections and comprehensive occupational safety and health assessments at industrial sites.

During the campaign, 44 violations were documented, while 79 establishments were found to be in compliance with labor laws and approved occupational safety standards. The inspections included the implementation of 123 emergency electronic inspections, conducted through coordinated field campaigns. These inspections involved issuing notifications and conducting labor inspections alongside real-time electronic monitoring related to occupational safety and health at workplaces.

This was the first time that violations were documented through the electronic emergency inspection system, with instant digital notifications sent to employers via the workforce inspection system. Director General Engineer Al-Osaimi highlighted that this campaign is a component of an integrated oversight plan being implemented by the Public Authority for Manpower across various regions, involving specialized inspection teams. The plan aims to verify compliance with labor regulations and ensure the application of approved occupational safety and health standards.

She further explained that the inspections focused on monitoring establishments' compliance with labor laws and employment relations, particularly concerning labor inspections and occupational health and safety requirements. These measures are designed to protect workers' rights, foster a safe and stable work environment, and simultaneously safeguard the rights of employers. Al-Osaimi assured that the Authority will continue to intensify field inspection campaigns, aligning with its mission to support economic development, achieve labor market stability, and strengthen partnerships with the private sector in the public interest.
